Bridge work to cause traffic delays

Deck-repair operations on the North Street bridge begin Monday, weather permitting, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Traffic will be maintained through the work area, but minor delays should be expected. The work is expected to be completed Tuesday evening.
Benefit concert set for Saturday
WARREN
A concert to benefit gregg’s gardens, an organization that works to beautify Warren, will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic St. NE.
The concert will feature members of Warren-area bands from the 1960s and ’70s, such as The Holes in the Road, The Shaddows and MF Rattlesnake.
The show is called “The Power of Two” and highlights the greatest rock- music duets of all time.
Admission is free, but a donation to Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership in support of gregg’s gardens is requested.
Light up the night, Poland Relay urges
POLAND
The 2013 Poland Relay for Life, scheduled for 6 p.m. July 12 to 6 p.m. July 13 at Poland Seminary High School, 3199 Dobbins Road, is asking area police, fire and emergency crews to “light up the night” at midnight July 12 to bring awareness to the American Cancer Society’s fight to end cancer.
Prizes will be awarded.
On July 13, ACS’s “Road to Recovery” program, which offers free transportation to cancer patients for medical appointments and treatments, will be highlighted; and at 1 p.m. that day, Relay for Life team members will showcase their handcrafted cars in a race around the track.
HMHP offering Safe Sitter classes
Humility of Mary Health Partners is offering its Safe Sitter baby-sitting program from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 17-18 at St. Elizabeth Health Center, 1044 Belmont Ave., Youngstown; and July 30-31 and Aug. 15-16 at St. Joseph Health Center, 667 Eastland Ave., Warren.
Students must attend both days of the course, which is open to boys and girls ages 11 to 13. Safe Sitter teaches responsible child care and prepares babysitters for emergency situations with first aid, rescue breathing, instances of choking, accident prevention and calling for help.
Students role-play scenarios they might encounter while watching a child without adult supervision.
The program costs $28.50 per child. Scholarships are available to those unable to pay. Registration is required. For information or to register, call 330-480-3070.
