A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard and Liberty:

GIRARD

June 22

Assault: A West Liberty Street woman reported an enraged neighbor struck her with a metal baton after she had accidently left open a door, allowing his pet rat out.

Menacing: A Hazel Street woman told police two girls came to her residence and threatened to beat up the accuser’s 16-year-old daughter.

June 24

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A West Prospect Street man told officers a woman took and failed to return his car.

June 25

Theft: A North Ward Avenue woman said she gave to a man, on a trial basis, a lawn mower she was trying to sell but that he never returned it.

Theft: A $250 catalytic converter was taken from Car Town Motor Sales Inc., 423 S. State St.

Criminal mischief: Someone broke a double-pane window to a home in the 800 block of Gary Avenue, causing $500 in damage.

Menacing: Two Stambaugh Street women said a neighbor tried to engage one of the accusers in a fight as part of a pattern of ongoing problems between them.

June 26

Criminal damaging: Several windows, a safe and a door sustained damage in the 600 block of Trumbull Avenue, apparently in a burglary attempt.

Criminal mischief: Someone kicked in a rear door to a residence in the 300 block of East Kline Street.

LIBERTY

June 19

Theft: A woman who had reported her purse missing from her vehicle while in the 300 block of Yvonne Drive learned someone made six attempts to use her stolen debit card at an Austintown grocery store.

Arrest: Police on Belmont Avenue pulled over and took into custody 27-year-old Christopher M. Click after learning Click, of 6116 W. Liberty St., Hubbard, was wanted on a Warren warrant.

Theft: A Ventura Drive man reported his son’s $200 bicycle stolen.

Assault: A Trumbull Court woman alleged her boyfriend repeatedly punched her head, then struck her with a vehicle’s mirror during an ongoing argument.

Theft: A woman discovered three U.S. passports and a foreign one missing from a drawer at her Trumbull Avenue home.

Arrest: A traffic stop led to the arrest of 42-year-old Thomas P. Ferrara, 2 Klines Cove, Liberty, on a charge of operating a vehicle while impaired.

Theft: A Crestwood Drive man reported three pocket knives, two credit cards and other property stolen from his car.

Vehicle theft: A 2005 Honda CRV motorcycle was stolen in the 1300 block of West Montrose Avenue.

Theft: Two 13-year-old Youngstown boys were accused of stealing a BB gun, a set of cartridges and pellets from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road. One of the teens also was charged with carrying concealed weapons, the other with possession of criminal tools.

June 21

Arrest: Police were dispatched to the Mahoning County jail, where they arrested 38-year-old Jay J. Cave, 1957 Donald St., Youngstown, on a charge of failing to appear in court.

Theft: A Stonington Avenue man alleged his son stole, then pawned the accuser’s iPad device, a 20-channel mixer and an Xbox system.

June 22

Arrest: A traffic stop on Goldie Road led to 57-year-old Carl G. Fletcher’s arrest. Fletcher, of 253 Trumbull Ave., Liberty, was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired.

Theft/drugs: Justin P. Saban of 1685 Roosevelt Ave., Niles, was charged with trying to steal a shirt from Walmart. The 24-year-old man also faced a felony heroin-possession charge when, police said, he had in his left sock a folded receipt c ontaining 1 gram of suspected heroin.

June 23

Burglary: To a second-floor apartment in the 1300 block of West Montrose Avenue. Stolen were two rings and four debit cards.

June 24

Criminal damaging: The owner of a Fairlawn Avenue auto-sales business saw that someone had thrown rocks at two customers’ vehicles, resulting in an $850 damage estimate.

Theft: A Fifth Avenue man alleged a Youngstown woman, 22, stole and pawned two pieces of his jewelry valued at $1,500.

Arrest: Austintown police arrested 40-year-old Wayne A. Kover, 27 James Lane, Girard. Kover was wanted on an outstanding Girard Municipal Court warrant accusing him of a probation violation.

Recovered property: Hubbard police recovered a $425 air-conditioning unit thought to have been stolen from an apartment complex in the 1100 block of East Liberty Street.

June 25

Drugs: A traffic stop on East Liberty Street resulted in the arrest of 30-year-old Jillian L. Russell, 129 Ellenwood Ave., Youngstown, on a drug-abuse charge. Russell, who also was wanted on a Boardman warrant charging larceny, had a bag containing 39 grams of suspected marijuana, a report showed.

Burglary: To a residence in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive. Stolen from the basement was about 238 feet of copper piping.

Theft: A charge was pending against a township woman, 28, after $6.45 worth of food was taken from Dollar General in the Liberty Plaza.

Breaking and entering: Someone cut a gate’s chain, entered an equipment yard at R.G. Silvestri Contractors, 2939 Youngstown-Hubbard Road, and stole a radiator and related part as well as four batteries. The estimated loss was $7,700.

Arrest: Police at the Mahoning County jail booked Andrae J. Taylor, 3190 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, on a township warrant.

June 26

Arrest: Youngstown police apprehended 34-year-old Bobbi T. Olds, 4232 Southern Blvd., Boardman. She was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant accusing her of failing to appear on a theft count.
