NEOMED announces changes to foundation board of directors

The Northeast Ohio Medical University Foundation Board of Directors recently announced several changes to its roster of members.

The award of Director Emeritus status was given to Samuel Roth and Jim Pazol, who served on the board 25 years and 20 years, respectively.

Samuel Roth is a business consultant, specializing in business turnarounds, business planning and merger and acquisitions. He retired as president of FirstEnergy Facilities Services Group, a FirstEnergy holding company for the mechanical construction, contracting and energy management companies that FirstEnergy acquired.

Before serving as president of FirstEnergy Facilities Services Group, he was president and chief financial officer of Roth Bros., Inc., a diversified engineering and contracting corporation. He and his wife, Judy, have established a scholarship endowment at the university and helped to secure major gifts.

Pazol operates Pazol Mediation Services after a successful 35-year career as a partner in the firm of Anzellotti, Sperling, Pazol & Small Co., L.P.A in Youngstown. He also served as litigation counsel to the Ohio attorney general for Youngstown State University. He and his wife, Roberta, have donated a leadership gift for the Education for Service Scholarship Fund and help connect the university with many Youngstown-area foundations and corporations.

The foundation was pleased to announce the addition of four new members, Daniel Gartland, Ann Klein, Robert Perry and Dr. Kevin Trice, effective July 1.

Daniel Gartland serves as manager, marketing-mobile industries at the Timken Company in Canton, where he is responsible for the design and implementation of marketing initiatives for mobile industry business. He formerly served as global marketing manager at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, market manager at Avery Dennison, and district business manager at Quest Diagnostics.

Gartland earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of Wooster and a master’s in business administration from Kent State University.

Ann Klein is owner and pharmacy manager at Klein’s Pharmacy in Akron. She also is a pharmacy preceptor and clinical assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at NEOMED. She previously served as a pharmacist at Rawley Drug and Gray Drug Store, and was a Northeast Ohio Trainer for the Rite Aid Corp.

Klein is a registered pharmacist with the state of Ohio.

Robert Perry serves as vice president at Welty Business Company in Akron, where he oversees business development for Ohio. He previously served as manager of suite sales for the Cleveland Browns, president of Legacy Healthcare Solutions and senior therapeutic director of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.

Perry earned a bachelor’s degree from Washington and Jefferson College and a master’s in business administratione from KSU.

Dr. Trice is president and chief executive officer of Pulmonary Apps, LLC in Cleveland and associate medical director at Wellpoint Inc., in Indianapolis, Ind. He served as an assistant professor in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Disorders Medicine at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Ky.; as staff physician and director of pulmonary and critical-care services at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Ky.; and as a staff physician at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Wash.

Dr. Trice earned a bachelor’s and a doctorate from the University of Louisville and a master’s in business administration from the University of Tennessee.
