West Farmington man dies in traffic accident

Robert Miller, 18, of West Farmington, was pronounced dead Thursday afternoon at Cleveland MetroHealth Hospital after being struck from behind by a car driven by a 25-year-old West Farmington woman.

Miller was alone in a horse-drawn buggy.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Chardon post said both vehicles were westbound on Farmington Road when the vehicle driven by Haley J. Otto hit the back of the buggy on the crest of a hill, ejecting Miller.

He was flown by heli- copter to the hospital after the 3:02 p.m. accident, which occurred in Parkman Township near the border of Trumbull and Geauga counties.

Alcohol is not suspected in the crash, the patrol said. Information on the speed the car was traveling was not available, and the accident remains under investigation.
