Scrappers can’t hold lead against Crosscutters

WILLIAMSPORT, PA.

Juan Herrera went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a run and an RBI for Mahoning Valley but it wasn’t enough as the Scrappers fell 10-5 to the Williamsport Crosscutters in a New York-Penn League game on Friday at Bowman Field.

Robel Garcia added two hits and two runs, Nellie Rodriguez had two hits, two RBIs and scored a run and James Roberts singled and drove in two for the Scrappers (5-7), who fell behind 7-1 after three innings. Josh McAdams also had two hits.

Mahoning Valley starter Caleb Hamrick (1-2) struggled, giving up seven runs (five earned) on seven hits with two walks and a strikeout.

Gustavo Martinez doubled, tripled and scored a run and Dylan Cozens homered for the Crosscutters (6-4).
