St. Christine Parish School honored grandparents May 17 with a grandparents day.

The day began with a special mass that connected the students and the grandparents together. The mass included a performance by the St. Charles youth choir.

After the mass, students and grandparents made their way to the school for an afternoon of bonding. Grandparents were treated to a packed lunch in decorated bags and spent time in the students’ classrooms.

“The students love to show off their school to their grandparents,” said Trish Tudor, organizer of the event.

Fifth-grade students in Michelle Kerr’s social studies class showed their grandparents the American Revolution slide show they created.

“It’s great that the students get to show their grandparents about what they are learning,” said Kerr.

Grandparents were able to view the students’ artwork at the art show and remember the day with a commemorative photo.

Kerr said grandparents day is important to the school.

“I want them to see this is where they came from. It’s all about family,” said Kerr.
