A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
June 19
Burglary: To a residence in the 5800 block of Kennedy Road through a rear door, though it appeared nothing was stolen.
June 20
Theft: A $3,500 commercial mower was stolen in the 3100 block of East Western Reserve Road.
June 21
Theft/criminal mischief: A garage-door opener was taken, and a vehicle sustained damage, in the 8400 block of Chesterton Drive.
BOARDMAN
June 21
Theft: A 25-year-old woman reportedly stole two pairs of shorts and a package of baby wipes from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Theft: A worker for Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd., discovered someone had removed her wallet from an office.
Theft: Robin S. Swagger, 46, of 906 South Blvd., New Castle, Pa., was charged with taking a pair of sunglasses and $122 worth of merchandise from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.
Arrest: Authorities on Shields Road arrested a 17-year-old Youngstown boy wanted on a pickup order from the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center in Youngstown charging him with violating a court order.
Theft: A man in his mid- to late 30s apparently tried to return three items to Walgreens Pharmacy, 7295 Market St., with receipts he evidently found in trash cans.
Theft: Cameron J. Hicks, 19, of 1927 S. Jefferson St., New Castle, Pa., was charged in the theft of a $40 pair of jeans from the JCPenney store in the Southern Park Mall.
Burglary: Someone cut a hole near a rear-door handle, then took an air-conditioning unit and 50 feet of copper piping from a home in the 100 block of Homestead Drive.
Theft: An Aravesta Avenue woman noticed $100 missing from her wallet.
Theft: A woman around age 30 stole five packages of tank tops from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.
Arrest: While investigating a burglary to a Rockdale Avenue apartment, authorities took into custody Randolph S. Phillips, 26, of 407 Rockdale, who was charged with criminal trespassing.
Theft: A $320 push mower was taken from a residence in the 50 block of Sciota Avenue.
Aggravated menacing: An Argyle Avenue woman told authorities someone waved a gun at her daughters as the two children played with friends in a parking lot in the 5900 block of Market Street.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered a vacant Sigle Lane residence via an unlocked door before removing $2,000 worth of copper piping as well as heating, ventilation and air-conditioning lines.
Theft: Samantha M. McCourt of 6336 Elk Road, Canfield, was charged. McCourt, 19, was accused of stealing razor blades, nail polish, and other small items from Walmart.
Arrest: Police arrested 34-year-old Angelina Benedis at her place of employment in the 600 block of Boardman-Canfield Road after saying Benedis, of 863 Palmer Ave., Youngstown, was wanted on a warrant charging violation of a protection order.
Theft: Forty checks were taken from a checkbook in the 7000 block of Claybourne Avenue.
Drugs: A traffic stop near Market Street led to a minor-misdemeanor citation against Benjamin D. Kirk, 18, of 103 Afton Ave., Boardman. He was accused of having a small quantity of suspected marijuana.
June 22
Theft: A Terrace Drive woman reported her son’s 20-inch bicycle stolen from near her front porch.
Theft: Pork ribs and assorted merchandise were removed from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.
Internet fraud: A Lindy Lane woman discovered her bank account had been accessed online, resulting in three unauthorized transactions.
Theft: Two women stole bed sheets and cosmetics from Walmart.
Breaking and entering: A Clifton Drive man saw that someone had entered his garage and taken his son’s $130 bicycle.
Theft: An Oceanside, Calif., man at a South Avenue banquet facility reported a dress coat, his wallet and other merchandise stolen from a hall area.
Theft: A laptop computer was removed from a vehicle at a restaurant in the 7300 block of Market Street.
Possible theft: A Rockdale Avenue man who had accidentally placed a $600 iPad device on his car’s roof and drove from his home retraced his route but was unable to locate it.
June 23
Arrest: Officers charged 32-year-old Joseph K. Hargraves, who listed addresses in Macon and Dallas, Ga., with operating a vehicle impaired, having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and obstructing official business. Police had to use a stun gun after Hargraves fled on foot and refused to cooperate, they said.
Attempted arson: A Leighton Avenue woman alleged her former boyfriend tried to set her car on fire after her daughter said she saw the man under the car tampering with its undercarriage. Later, police reported seeing a man fitting his description jumping a nearby fence, but, despite having set up a perimeter, were unable to apprehend him at the time of the report.
Theft: A Melrose Avenue man alleged his former girlfriend stole and sold nine of his Dallas Cowboys jerseys.
Theft: Four 22-inch chrome rims were removed from a vehicle at a Market Street dealership.
Domestic violence: Thomas J. Bode, 39, of 731 Sable Court, Boardman, was charged with the crime after his wife alleged an intoxicated Bode had repeatedly struck her left hand in which she had a set of car keys. The argument evidently escalated when she tried to prevent him from driving their van.
Harassment: A Willow Drive woman said her mother made 10 unwanted calls to her.
Theft: A $4 bottle of motor oil was taken from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Rosewood Drive woman told officers her son took her 2002 GMC Sonoma truck without permission.
Trespassing: Norman J. Hageman Jr., 59, of 236 Meadowbrook Ave., Boardman, faced a criminal-trespassing charge after a manager with Buffalo Wild Wings reported Hageman was at the Southern Park Mall eatery in violation of a trespassing warning.
Theft: Two men stole six cellphones from Walmart.
Trespassing: Police at the St. Charles Church festival on Westview Drive arrested 21-year-old Vincenzo J. Daltorio, 5011 Firnley Ave., Boardman. He was wanted on criminal-trespassing and disorderly-conduct charges.
Drugs: Austintown police arrested and handed to township authorities Jennifer L. Mondora of 14837 Unity Road, New Springfield. The 34-year-old Mondora was booked on charges of possession of heroin, cocaine and drug-abuse instruments.
Theft by deception: Police in the 5100 block of Youngstown-Poland Road picked up 25-year-old Robert A. White, who faced a theft-by-deception charge. White, of 1764 Market St., Youngstown, also was wanted on a felony parole-violation warrant from Franklin County, Ohio.
Theft: Someone stole a 900-square-inch sign the Boardman Fire Department had erected in a parking lot in the 7300 block of Market Street.
Theft: Jillian L. Russell, 30, of 129 Ellenwood Ave., Youngstown, was arrested in Liberty Township. Russell was wanted on a theft warrant accusing her of stealing clothing and undergarments from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.
June 24
Burglary: To an apartment in the 600 block of Cook Avenue, from which a 42-inch TV, three knives and several other items were taken, for an estimated $4,250 loss.
Theft: A $150 bass amplifier was stolen from a truck in the 8400 block of Stadler Court.
Breaking and entering: Someone appeared to have used a screwdriver to pry open a rear door to a home in the 100 block of Newport Drive before stealing an undetermined amount of copper piping.
Theft: Two amplifiers and a digital camera were removed from a car in the 8100 block of Stadler Avenue.
Theft: A man and a woman in their 20s stole five swimsuits from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.
Theft: A pair of sunglasses and miscellaneous change were taken from a car in the 60 block of Forest Garden Drive.
Misuse of a credit card: A Canton woman who had lost her credit card learned it was used without authorization to make a $182 purchase at a Boardman-Poland Road business.
Robbery: Authorities in the 300 block of Boardman-Poland Road apprehended Kaylan B. Taylor of 729 Bennington Ave., Youngstown, and charged the 18-year-old man with robbery and obstructing official business after his former girlfriend alleged that while at the Southern Park Mall, Taylor had forcibly taken her pocketbook before fleeing. He also led police on a foot pursuit, they said.
Theft: Someone in the 40 block of Green Bay Drive removed $60 from a vehicle.
Identity fraud: The owner of Youngstown Memorials, 6536 South Ave., learned a former employee reportedly had used business-owned order forms to fraudulently sell headstones.
June 25
Drugs: While responding to a possible break-in at a Mathews Road church, police issued minor-misdemeanor citations to Dijonn T. Green of 212 Curry Place, and Daniel T. May of 203 E. Chalmers Ave., charging the two 19-year-old Youngstown men with marijuana possession.
