Historical society sets weekend for military

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will celebrate Independence Day by honoring active military personnel and veterans by hosting Military Appreciation Weekend at the Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Avenue.

The tribute will begin at 1 p.m. and end at 5 p.m. each day July 5, 6 and 7. Admission to the museum will be free for all military members and their families.

Outdoor activities will include games and crafts for kids, a large “Thank you” banner for attendees to personalize, a basket raffle, food and beverages.

The Historical Society also will host guest speakers at 2 p.m. each day in the Carriage House.

Nonmilitary families will be admitted half-price with donations of nonperishable food or toiletries, which will be sent to the Youngstown VA Outpatient Clinic. All outdoor activities and speakers are free for everyone.
