Man charged with dropping off daughter to fight classmate

WARREN

A 39-year-old Pearl Street Southwest man has pleaded innocent to endangering children. He’s accused of dropping off his daughter at a bus stop on May 16 to fight with a female classmate at the McGuffey K-8 school.

Jermaine Gary was arraigned on the misdemeanor charge Monday in Warren Municipal Court. He was released after posting a personal recognizance bond, meaning he didn’t have to pay anything.

Police said Gary dropped his daughter off at the corner of Riverview and Tod avenues Northwest to fight with a 14-year-old Orlo Street Northwest girl getting off of the school bus.

The victim said she got away from Gary’s daughter and went toward her house, but the girl got out of the vehicle a second time and tried to assault her again, police said.

The victim had a minor facial injury.

Gary turned himself in to police on Monday after police issued an arrest warrant for him. If convicted, Gary could get up to six months in jail.
