1910: President William Howard Taft signs the White-Slave Traffic Act, more popularly known as the Mann Act, which makes it illegal to transport women across state lines for “immoral” purposes.

1938: The Fair Labor Standards Act is enacted.

1950: War breaks out in Korea as the communist North invades the South.

1988: Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Peter Sfeir will celebrate a Pontifical Divine Liturgy at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon in North Jackson during his first pastoral visit to the United States.
