Some of them went out in style, finishing their careers competing at the highest levels.

Springfield’s Cody Pitzo and Ursuline’s Sam Donko (Ursuline) helped their baseball teams to the state tournament. Salem throwers Anthony Shivers and Ciera Trybend both placed in their final state meet. South Range softball pitcher Carly DeRose led her team to a 25-3 record.

Others — Warren JFK track state champions Chad Zallow and Morgan Rice, Fitch softball player Cali Mikovich and Poland tennis player Garrett Gardner — will be back for more next year.
