UPDATE: Bear moves to Forest Lawn; officials urge residents to leave it alone

A black bear that’s been lumbering through southern Mahoning County much of today was last spotted in Forest Lawn Cemetery on Market Street at about 8 p.m.

Police said officials from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources are tracking the animal and an ODNR spokeswoman urged anyone who sees it to stay away.

Jamey Graham said people shouldn’t try to approach the bear and shouldn’t follow it.

Black bears aren’t typically aggressive but could be if cornered.
