BATAVIA, N.Y.
Claudio Bautista singled, doubled and homered for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, who couldn’t hold a one-run lead in the ninth and fell to the Batavia Muckdogs 3-2 in a New York-Penn League game on Friday at Dwyer Stadium.
Trailing 2-1, Muckdogs batter Felix Munoz led off the ninth with a walk and was replaced by pinch-runner Luiz Ortiz.
Avery Romero’s single moved Ortiz to second and he went to third on Chad Wallach’s flyout. Scrappers reliever Manuel Carmona (1-1) then threw a wild pitch that allowed Ortiz to scored the game-tying run, with Romero moving to second.
Carlos Lopez then singled to left to score Romero with the game-winner for Batavia (2-3).
Joshua McAdams added two hits, including a double, and scored a run for the Scrappers (2-3), whose two-game winning streak was snapped.
Brian Ruiz added an RBI.
Mahoning Valley stranded 11 runners and batted 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position.
