The rumble, roar and smoke of high-performance vehicles will shake Quaker City Motorsports Park this weekend as the annual Steel Valley Super Nationals returns.

The drag strip and its grounds will be jammed with more than 3,000 high-end hot rods, street rods, muscle cars, dragsters, custom trucks, sport compacts and motorcycles, with more than 25,000 spectators.

Highlighting the annual gathering of horsepower will be concerts by national rock acts Jackyl on Friday night and Skid Row on Saturday.

The Super Nats is marking its seventh year at Quaker City, and Corey Ward, who owns and operates the event, said it’s been a match made in heaven.

“We love the location and the facilities, and our participants do too,” said Ward. “It’s an ideal way to spend an early summer weekend — with some of the most eye-catching cars ever put together.”

The weekend will get into full swing Friday with the Super Nats Kick-off Party, featuring ’90s rockers Jackyl with special guests The Huckin Fillbillys.

Jackyl’s radio hits include “Down On Me,” “When Will It Rain,” “I Stand Alone” and “Lumberjack.” Jackyl also can be seen on Tru TV’s hit show “Full Throttle Saloon,” a reality show set at the famous South Dakota bar during the Sturgis Bike Rally. The Huckin Fillbillies will take the stage at 8 p.m., followed by a Phantom Fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. and then Jackyl at 10 p.m.

On Saturday, multiplatinum rockers Skid Row will perform at 10 p.m. after a set by special guest Haymaker, which will begin at 8 p.m.

Skid Row’s hits include “Youth Gone Wild,” “I Remember You” and “18 And Life.”

The top-10 awards will be announced at 2 p.m. Sunday, followed by a hot-rod parade with police escort to Quaker Steak & Lube in Austintown for the Super Nats after-party.
