Public can review Second Street bridge plans next week

ELLWOOD CITY, Pa.

Pennsylvania state Rep. Jaret Gibbons of Ellwood City, D-10th, announced that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will display plans to replace the Second Street Bridge over the Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad next week for public review.

“The bridge lies on one of the main thruways in Ellwood City and it’s vital that it’s kept in good shape,” Gibbons said.

Plans for the project can be viewed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through June 28 at the Ellwood Municipal Building, 525 Lawrence Ave.

There is no formal presentation or meeting scheduled during these times.

The work will extend from Crescent Avenue to Pittsburgh Circle and will involve construction of a new bridge with pedestrian sidewalks on each side, and the installation of new roadway lighting.

The project begins this winter.
