The search continued Tuesday for Lawrence Elroy Page, 47, of Pittsburgh, who is believed to have drowned in Pymatuning Lake after jumping from a pontoon boat into 20 feet of water at about 6 p.m. Saturday to help a woman get back aboard.

On Tuesday, an Ohio State Highway Patrol plane performed an aerial search of the 26-square-mile lake, which straddles the Ohio-Pennsylvania border, said Daniel Bickel, Pennsylvania’s Pymatuning State Park manager.

Meanwhile, Pennsylvania State Police used boat-mounted sonar to search the lake, with divers ready to enter the water if sonar found anything needing further examination, he said.

Nine people were aboard the pontoon boat, which was rented from Birches Landing on the Ohio side of the lake. Page jumped into the water near where the boat was rented, Bickel said.
