ValleyCare announces major investment at Northside Medical Center

YOUNGSTOWN — ValleyCare Heath System of Ohio today announced it is breaking ground next month on a $20 million expansion of Northside Medical Center on Gypsy Lane.

The project will expand Northside's patient-care resources and be the largest infrastructure investment made at the hospital in 15 years, according to a ValleyCare new release.

The plan calls for a 30,000-square-foot tower that will expand the emergency department and create a new main entrance. Also, more than 28,000 square feet of the current hospital will be updated.

The project is part of a five-year, $80 million capital commitment made possible through ValleyCare's affiliation with Community Health Systems in October 2010, according to the press release.
