FUNDRAISERS

In memory of Cory Lunger, originally of Columbiana, his family has organized a bicycle poker run Sunday at the Little Beaver Creek Greenway Trail to raise money for cancer research. Riders can register any time between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., starting and finishing at the Lisbon or Leetonia trailhead. The fundraiser is part of Pelotonia, a grass-roots bike tour that supports the fight against cancer. It will benefit Ohio State University’s Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard Solove Research Institute in Columbus. Lunger was treated there during his five-year battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, which he lost in March. In his honor, a team (or peloton) of friends and family will ride under the name CLunger for a Cure. Participants can play as many hands as they like; a full trail ride is worth two hands, or the cost is $5 per hand. All ages are welcome. Contact Lunger’s sister Holly Sebrell, who is in charge of the event, at 330-605-6571.
