Search continues for man officials believe drowned

The search continues for a 48-year old man from the Pittsburgh area who is believed to have drowned in Pymatuning Lake in Ashtabula County.

The man was seen about 6 p.m. Saturday jumping off a rented pontoon boat. The man had jumped into the lake to help a women get back into the boat. He went underwater and never resurfaced, according to reports.

Pymatuning State Park Police said they will continue search efforts until a recovery can be made.

588 vehicles stopped; 2 get OVI citations

Two drivers were charged with operating a vehicle under the influence resulting from a checkpoint Saturday night and early Sunday.

The Mahoning Valley OVI Task Force conducted the checkpoint on Mahoning Avenue at Howard Avenue. A total of 588 vehicles passed through the checkpoint. In addition to the two OVI arrests, there was one summons for driving under suspension, two citations for drug abuse, one for possession of drug paraphernalia, one for open container and an arrest on a felony warrant.

Weapon, drugs found

A Youngstown woman was arrested on multiple charges after drugs and a weapon were found in her possession after a traffic stop Saturday.

Deshawnn Williams, 24, 181 E. Ravenwood, was charged with possession of dangerous drugs, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of drugs — marijuana.

Williams was pulled over Saturday at 1:13 a.m. and the officer said he could smell marijuana. Police allege several bags of marijuana, multiple types of prescription pills and a handgun were in her possession.

Attempted abduction

Pennsylvania State Police are looking for a man who they believe attempted to abduct a child.

The incident occurred on Line Street in Perry Township in Lawrence County. A boy was in his yard on a swing set about 8:30 p.m. Saturday when he was approached by an unidentified man who attempted to speak to the child. The boy became fearful and tried to run back to his home.

The man grabbed the child by the back of his shirt, but the boy was able to make it back inside his home, and the man fled through yards.

The suspect is described as a 30- to 40- year-old while male about 5 feet 8 inches tall. He has a medium build, light or blond hair, a beard and a skeleton tattoo on one forearm. The suspect was wearing shorts and a T-shirt.
