Shenango Valley recycling events this month

Staff report

Tri-County CleanWays has teamed with Lawrence-Mercer Recycling/Solid Waste Department to offer year-round electronics recycling.

The program is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at a New Castle, Pa., site and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 26 at a Mercer, Pa., location.

Televisions of all types and sizes, computers and their towers, monitors, scanners, mice, keyboards and speakers and cellphones will be recycled free of charge.

The recycling of other small electronics will cost $1 each. This includes VCRs, DVD players, CD and tape players, radios, sweepers and vacuums, microwave ovens, telephones and phone systems and pagers. All other costs to recycle are now being covered by the manufacturers.

This program is open to all residents regardless of municipality or county. Participation will be limited to the first 50 registrants at either the New Castle or Mercer location due to storage limitations.

A registration form can be found at www.co.lawrence.pa.us/Recycling/Year-AroundElectronicsCollection.html. The completed form should be emailed to tccleanways@comcast.net. After registration, an appointment time, full address of the Mercer or New Castle locations, and directions will be provided.

Volunteers also are needed at both facilities to help unload vehicles.
