The Mahoning Valley Violent Crimes Task Force and the ICU Block Watch will host a safety summit at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Dominic’s Church, 77 E. Lucius Ave. At the event, a task force member will work personally with a block-watch group or neighborhood association.

Adopt-A-Palooza
Boardman
Sweeney Chevrolet- Buick-GMC, 8010 Market St., will sponsor a free “Adopt-A-Palooza” event from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Sweeney will welcome six Mahoning Valley adoption groups that will bring adoptable dogs and cats.
Demonstrations in canine obedience, tricks and agility will be offered, and the Boardman Police Department will give a police canine demonstration. Food, pet merchandise and prizes provided by local vendors will be available.

Summer programs
Mercer, pa.
Munnell Run Farm, 753 Greenville Road, has teamed with the Mercer County Conservation District to host informational summer programs for children age 5 to 8.
“Down on the Farm,” an exploration of the many animals that live on a farm, will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday. Participants will be offered a wagon ride, milk from Clara, the farm’s simulated cow, and a chance to make butter. The program is appropriate for age 5 to 8.
For organizers to prepare materials for the program, registration is required by Thursday. Cost is $5.
