Hanoverton pasture walk set for June 27

HANOVERTON
Conkle Family Farm, 9861 Stroup Road, will offer a pasture walk at 6 p.m. June 27.
Family owned and operated since 1941, Conkle Family Farm has transitioned from row-crop farming to management intensive grazing. The farm now manages a beef cow-calf herd, broiler chickens and laying hens on pasture.
Discussions offered during the event will include “Forage Sample Results,” “Sorting Cattle using Polywire,” “Water Quality: Stream Sampling Demonstration” and “Pastured Poultry.”
Participants are encouraged to visit with the Eastern Ohio Grazing Council members, soil and water conservation district and Natural Resources Conservation Service personnel during the social and educational event. Guests are asked to take lawn chairs. Refreshments will be provided.
Registration is required by June 25.
More pasture walks will be offered throughout the summer, including a July 25 walk at Ron Truitt’s Salem farm and an Aug. 22 event at Cliff Miller’s Carrollton farm in Carroll County.
The pasture walk is presented by the Eastern Ohio Grazing Council in cooperation with Carroll, Columbiana, Harrison, Jefferson, and Mahoning Soil and Water Conservation districts and the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
