Common Ground Church, 2310 W. South Range Road, has organized a local food nonprofit called Goodness Grows, which will have a farmers market starting this week.

Goodness Grows teaches sustainable farming techniques to school groups, special needs students and adults.

Groups from In Christ’s Hands with the First Church of the Nazarene in Salem and Bridges to Transition with the Columbiana County Educational Service Center cultivate vegetables at the church.

Goodness Grows’ farmers market will take place Thursdays at the church from 4 to 7 p.m. starting this Thursday. During Independence Day week, the market will be open July 3. The market will continue every week through September.

Special-needs students will help sell the produce they cultivated.

Booths of produce also will be set up by Dandelion Lane Farm, The Zaney Pearl: A Crazy Beautiful Farm, Lady Buggs Farm and Whitestone Youth Ministries.
