Police say a 54-year-old woman was beaten in the 200 block of Byron Street early Thursday evening by several people after she apparently punched a 14-year-old female earlier in the day.
Officers were called to the street about 7:20 p.m. for a report of a woman being beaten by a large crowd of men and two women. When they got there, the crowd was gone but the woman was on her porch, bleeding from several cuts and she had several bruises and blood on her dress, reports state.
At first the woman was too drunk to tell police much of anything but a neighbor said the group of men and the two women were arguing with the victim in her driveway when the women began punching the victim, reports said.
The two women knocked the victim down and kept kicking and punching her and the victim was also smacked in the face with a shoe that was in the driveway, reports said.
One of the men in the group kept screaming, “that was my daughter you punched,” the neighbor told police.
The victim managed to tell police later that she did punch a 14-year-old girl earlier in the day, but she thought the girl was an adult because of the way she acted. The victim was taken to ValleyCare Northside Medical Center to be treated for her injuries.
