Woman escapes duplex fire on South Side

YOUNGSTOWN

A fire at a South Side duplex about 12:30 p.m. Thursday caused $10,000 in damage, fire reports said.

Crews were called to 142-144 W. Phliadelphia Ave., and found fire on the second floor when they arrived. A woman who lives there told firefighters she saw smoke and fire coming from a love seat and tried to put it out by throwing water on it before leaving.

The fire remains under investigation.
