'Career criminal' arraigned; bond set at $100,000

BOARDMAN — Steven Direnzo, the so-called "career criminal" arrested on Tuesday and charged with receiving stolen property and tampering with evidence, pleaded not guilty to both charges at his arraignment in front of Judge Joseph M. Houser today.

Martin Hume, assistant county prosecutor, requested bond be set at $100,000 given Direnzo's criminal past.

Judge Houser accepted the request, and Direnzo told the judge he plans on being able to pay it.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mahoning County Area Court here.
