POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard and Liberty:
GIRARD
June 8
Arrest: Police responded to a call about someone causing a scene at a West Liberty Street business before charging 27-year-old Ramon A. Story, 3114 Youngstown Ave., McDonald, with two counts of disorderly conduct. An intoxicated Story refused to leave and yelled profanities, then hurled vulgarities at officers and refused to cooperate during part of the booking process, a report showed.
Theft: Four pieces of jewelry and $560 were removed from a vehicle on Sioux Trail, for a $1,785 loss.
Identity fraud: A North St. Clair Avenue man reported getting two letters from credit-card companies stating someone had tried to open accounts in his name.
Arrest: Officers near West Liberty Street arrested Philip D. Beall of 214 Market St., Girard, on a bicycle upon learning the 29-year-old Beall was wanted on two warrants, including one accusing him of failing to appear in court on a domestic-violence charge.
June 9
Damage: A Morris Avenue man said a neighbor’s children struck his car with their bicycles, denting a wheel frame.
June 10
Theft by deception: A Woodlawn Avenue woman reported that a man came to her residence inquiring about performing home repairs before he wrote a $2,409 estimate and requested a $1,000 down payment. The woman added that she never again heard from him.
June 11
Aggravated menacing: Authorities responded to a possible fight near Highland and Powers avenues, where two boys said a male had made and sent calls and text messages threatening to shoot their home and occupants.
LIBERTY
June 6
Identity theft: A Logan Arms Drive man applying online for a credit card told police that after being given a contact phone number, a woman asked for his date of birth and Social Security number. Afterward, the man called the bank’s customer-service line and was told an email and the number he was given likely were unverifiable.
Arrest: Police responded to a vehicular crash in the 4700 block of Belmont Avenue, where they took into custody 50-year-old Erika D. Tremble-Dunn upon learning the Groveport, Ohio, woman was wanted on a felony drug-possession charge from Franklin County, Ohio.
Aggravated menacing: A Holly Drive woman told officers that as she got out of her car, a Girard woman threatened to beat her up and shoot the accuser in the face.
Drugs: Officers investigating a possible domestic situation on Ravine Drive arrested Michael C. Thompson, 38, of 141 Laurel St., Liberty, on charges of possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. A police dog revealed 26 used syringes in his car, a suspected crack-cocaine pipe and multiple torn bags with suspected heroin residue, a report said.
Possible theft: A Boardman man reported his wallet lost or stolen while in the 3500 block of Belmont Avenue.
Arrest: Youngstown police handed to Liberty authorities 47-year-old Jesse Anderson, 2643 Eddie St., Youngstown, who was wanted on an outstanding township warrant accusing him of failure to appear in court.
Theft: A woman in the 200 block of Goldie Road reported her car keys stolen.
Recovered property: A man cleaning a Holly Drive apartment found someone’s wallet.
June 7
Arrest: Police at the Mahoning County jail picked up 21-year-old Rachel C. Irizarry upon learning Irizarry, of 62 Park Ave., Struthers, was accused of failing to appear in court on a theft charge.
Drugs: A traffic stop near Gypsy Lane resulted in a minor-misdemeanor summons charging Charmaine C. Brown of 703 Harlem St., Youngstown, with marijuana possession. Brown, 39, had a suspected marijuana cigar in a cigarette pack, police said.
Arrest: Officers were dispatched to the Mahoning County jail, where they arrested 27-year-old Carlton C. Dyer, 2425 Trusset Ave., Youngstown, on an outstanding township warrant charging failure to appear in court.
Drugs: Police conducting a traffic stop in the 4000 block of Monticello Boulevard discovered 1 gram of suspected marijuana on the ground. No arrests were made, however.
Stolen property: Authorities received information regarding a stolen $4,000 backhoe in the 1900 block of Oriel-Rogers Road that apparently had its vehicle identification number removed.
June 8
Assault: A manager with a Belmont Avenue business alleged that during a meeting pertaining to a workplace violation, a 19-year-old employee became belligerent and, when asked to leave, struck the accuser’s face.
Criminal damaging: A man returned to his truck in the 2100 block of Tibbetts-Wick Road and discovered numerous wires and hoses under the hood had been cut, as had several in the passenger compartment. The damage estimate was $2,000.
Drug paraphernalia: A township boy, 17, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after having been pulled over near Hadley Avenue. A suspected marijuana pipe was found, authorities said.
Burglary: To an apartment in the 2900 block of Northview Boulevard, though police found no signs of forced entry. Items stolen included two flat-screen TVs and a DVD player, for an estimated $1,750 loss.
June 9
Theft: A woman reported numerous pieces of jewelry stolen from her Logangate Road home, for an $8,000 loss.
June 10
Menacing: A manager with a Belmont Avenue bank said that two Girard woman, 18 and 37, were angered about overdraft fees to the older woman’s account, and that the older woman later called threatening to punch the manager’s face.
Arrest: Kenneth A. Wannamaker, 32, of 962 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Youngstown, was arrested at the Mahoning County jail. He was accused of failing to appear in court.
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a vacant home in the 30 block of Euclid Boulevard through the front door and stole 265 feet of copper piping valued at $1,000 from the basement.
Arrest: Campbell authorities handed 46-year-old Joyce Schell, 283 Robinson Road, Campbell, to township police. Schell was wanted on a warrant charging failure to appear in court.
