Police: 2 men stole from Internet cafe
YOUNGSTOWN
Police say two men stole an undetermined amount of cash from an Internet cafe on the South Side about 10:50 p.m. Monday.
An employee at Internet Palace, 1100 E. Midlothian Blvd., told police a man came in, pointed a gun at her face and demanded money while another man who had his face covered reached in the cash register and took some cash. The men then ran outside.
A witness told police he saw two men running in the parking lot. He said they told him to get on the ground, and he did. Reports said people inside playing games were not able to give a description of the men because the robbery happened very quickly.
Police said they would review video of the robbery as well.

Firefighters battled fires at two vacant houses late Monday and early Tuesday.
Crews were called to a home at 87 E. Philadelphia Ave. on the South Side about 3:45 a.m. Tuesday that had heavy fire showing, and a nearby home was threatened by the flames.
Firefighters were able to hook up to a hydrant across Southern Boulevard and protect nearby homes. The dwelling was allowed to burn to the ground. Damage is listed at $7,670.
A vacant home at 853 Kenneth Ave. on the East Side also was allowed to burn to the ground after the first crews on the scene about 10:40 p.m. Monday found it to be fully engulfed. Damage is listed at $5,000 in that blaze. The cause of both blazes is under investigation, reports said.
Report: Checks had insufficient funds

Third-party checks were cashed at Boardman Express Mart, 6828 Market St., and later determined to be from closed accounts or accounts with insufficient funds, according to a police report.
The store owner told police he found out about the bad checks after his bank contacted him, explaining it wouldn’t honor them. The four checks were from different accounts and were written out to a “Kristen,” according to a report.
The store owner told police he has a pre-authorized list his employees must look at before cashing checks. It was later determined the cashier did not look at the list before cashing the checks and said it was a mistake, according to a report.
Boardman police told the owner to contact them if he gets more information.
