BBB warns of scam
YOUNGSTOWN
The Better Business Bureau is warning residents to be suspicious of unsolicited phone calls about medical emergency alarms and other medical supplies.
In these calls, the caller states that a medical-alert device has been purchased and will claim to be from Medicare or a well-known medical-equipment company.
Consumers have reported to the BBB that they have ordered but never received items from these telemarketers. They say the caller is asking for their Medicare or credit-card number to complete the transaction and are using aggressive sales tactics.
Aim expansion
GIRARD
Aim National Lease, a national provider of commercial truck leasing and contract maintenance services, is expanding into the oil and gas industry with the establishment of Aim Services Co.
Aim Services Co. will specialize in oil and gas services for the Utica and Marcellus shale plays in Ohio and Pennsylvania, with an initial focus on transportation of fresh and produced water to and from well pads.
Water-delivery service will start this month after Aim takes delivery of its new water-hauling trucks. The company will launch the venture with four vehicles, with plans to up-fleet quickly as demand increases.
Aim Services also has invested in manpower, providing eight drivers to the fleet. Jason R. Olesh, previously director of business development for Aim Integrated Logistics, has been named director of business development for Aim Services Co.
Aim Services initially will target customers within 100 miles of its headquarters in Girard. With additional locations in Ohio and western Pennsylvania, opportunities exist for further expansion.
Military-friendly
youngstown
The city of Youngstown has been named a 2013 Top 50 “Military Friendly City” by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs magazine.
The city was ranked in the top 12.5 percent of the 381 metropolitan areas nationwide.
G.I. Jobs said that Youngstown is home to a large pool of jobs at military- friendly employers, military- friendly schools, campuses and veteran-owned businesses. The cost of living and unemployment rate make Youngstown ideal for veterans and their families to start a successful civilian life, the magazine said.
