OSHP investigating pedestrian struck by a vehicle in Boardman

BOARDMAN — A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Boardman this morning as he was crossing Indianola Road.

Ohio State Highway Patrol received a call around 8:36 a.m. from Boardman police.

The driver of the vehicle was southbound on Market Street attempting to make a left hand turn onto Indianola, Trooper Timothy Dobbins said.

"The vehicle had struck the pedestrian in the process of making his turn," Dobbins said. "Right now the fault is still under investigation."

The victim, however, was in the crosswalk when he was crossing the road, Dobbins said. OSHP is trying to determine who had the right of way.

The victim didn't have any identification on him at the time of the accident and was transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, Dobbins said.

The pedestrian's injuries are not life threatening, he added.

The vehicle tried avoiding the pedestrian and struck a bush outside the Family Video on Market Street.

"We still have to go to the hospital and talk to the pedestrian to see exactly what [happened] even if that's possible today," Dobbins said.
