Four area travel teams win Battle of the Border divisions

Four area travel baseball teams were among the nine division winners at the Battle on the Border tournament that ended Sunday.

The winners were Struthers’ Ohio Glaciers (10U and 14U), Warren’s Ohio Bombers (8U) and Alliance Elite (11U).

Battle on the Border, which was sanctioned by Triple Crown Sports, used 55 fields in the Mahoning Valley for its eighth tournament.

Among the complexes used were Struthers’ Cene Park, Boardman’s Fields of Dreams, Columbiana’s Firestone Park, Austintown’s Koch Fields, Youngtown’s Pemberton Park, Hubbard‘s Harding Park and Canfield’s McCune Park.

More than 250 teams participated.

Ohio Bombers went 5-0, scoring 46 runs and allowing 21 runs. The 10U Ohio Glaciers went 6-0, scoring 52 runs and allowing 11.

Alliance Elite also went 6-0, scoring 70 runs and allowing 23. The 14U Ohio Glaciers also went 6-0, scoring 65 runs and allowing 10.

The tournament is a qualifier for Triple Crown’s Championship Events.
