Two groups planning Flag Day event Friday

CANFIELD

The Mahoning Veterans Memorial and AMVETS Post 44 are having a Flag Day ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Memorial on the west side of the Canfield Fairgrounds. The public is welcome to attend and participate in the ceremony.

Worn flags may be dropped off at the Mahoning Veterans Memorial or at AMVETS Post 44, 305 Elm St., Struthers.

Benefit for victims of Okla. tornadoes

Columbiana

A fundraiser to benefit those affected by the Oklahoma tornadoes will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the green by Burger King at the Village Plaza.

All proceeds and donations will be given to Heart for Children Ministries in Chickasha, Okla., an organization that is assisting 40 to 50 children that were affected by the twister.

The Oklahoma Tornado Benefit will be hosted by former Columbiana Mayor Dick Simpson.

The event will offer a food and bake sale, entertainment from John Branch, Mike Prater and other local artists, basket auctions, face painting and demonstrations by safety forces. Guests will be invited to make a card or write a letter to the children affected by the tornadoes.

Home Savings group donates $251 for Beaver Twp. Parks

Youngstown

Home Savings Charitable Foundation has donated $251 to Beaver Township Parks to support efforts to provide both entertainment and educational programs for residents and nonresidents of all ages.

The park offers programs such as Music in the Park, Autumn Fest, Corn Roast, Community Holiday Tree Lighting, Kid’s Fun and Safety Day, Veterans Day program and kid’s Halloween party.
