COLUMBUS — The Ohio State Highway Patrol participated in Roadcheck 2013, which promoted 72-hours of continuous commercial motor-vehicle inspections throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 4 through June 6.

This year’s theme was “Enhancing Truck and Bus Safety and Security throughout North America.”

Troopers and motor-carrier enforcement inspectors conducted 1,566 commercial-vehicle inspections. Of those, 363 vehicles and 65 drivers were placed out of service.

In addition, 31 motor coaches were inspected with one bus and two drivers being placed out of service. Bus inspections were completed at Toledo Hollywood Casino, Cedar Point, Columbus Hollywood Casino, and Kings Island.

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance sponsors the annual road checks, with participation by state law enforcement agencies, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators, Transport Canada, Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration, and the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation (Mexico).
