Youngstown elementary students to get fresh fruit, veg snacks next year

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown City Schools will offer fresh fruit and vegetable snacks to all elementary-school students during the 2013-14 school year through a grant offered through the Ohio Department of Education.

Submitted by Sue Paris, the US Department of Agriculture grant provides $134,368 to allow the food-service department to purchase healthy snacks for every elementary student roughly three days each week.
