Arson reported at business, residence on West Side of Youngstown

A fire at a vacant business/residential building on the city’s West Side was intentionally set, firefighters say.

A fire was reported at 10:04 p.m. Saturday at 930 Salt Springs Road. When firefighters arrived, flames were shooting out from the rear of the empty building.

There were no injuries.

The utilities to the building are shut off, and inside were abandoned furniture and other debris, firefighters said.

The fire, which was intentionally set, caused $10,000 in damage to the building that is valued at $25,000, firefighters said.
