Zallow brothers lead JFK to 3rd at state track

Warren JFK sophomore Chad Zallow won the 110- and 300-meter hurdles, the latter in state-record time, and his brother Carl won the 100 to help the Eagles to a third-place finish in Division III at Saturday's state track and field meet at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Zallow's time of 36.87 in the 300s shattered the 20-year-old state record set by Fremont St. Joseph's 37.58.

Also, the brothers helped JFK place second in the 4x200 relay.

JFK junior Morgan Rice also won a state title, in the 100 hurdles, in the day's first running event. And Salem senior Anthony Shivers repeated in the discus in Division II.

Three other Valley natives finished second on Saturday morning: South Range's Andrew O'Leary (400), Maplewood's Wyatt Hartman (800) and Wellsville's Shartece Taylor (100) — all in Division III.
