Hands-on-history open houses start next week at Arms Museum

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will host free hands-on-history open houses this summer at the Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave.

The classes will take place 2 to 4 p.m. every Wednesday starting next week through Aug. 14. Each week will explore a historical theme, and classes throughout the summer will include “Celebrating the Fourth,” “My Town, Your Town, Youngstown,” and “The House that Olive Built.”

Hands-on activities include arts and crafts, games, toys, artifacts and dress-up clothing. Activities will be appropriate for all ages and interests. The events are free. Half-priced admission for a full museum tour will be offered to all open-house guests.
