Two wounded in South Side shooting
Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN
Police say two West Side men were wounded in a shooting late Wednesday at a South Side gas station.
Eric Moschella, 32, was shot in the leg, and Eric Ferguson, 23, was shot in the arm. Both are from Manchester Avenue and were taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Officers called to the South Avenue Gas Mart, 2325 South Ave., about 10:40 p.m. found a car in the parking lot that had bullet holes in the windshield and hood and Moschella lying wounded in the parking lot.
Reports said Ferguson came out of the station and told police he had a concealed-carry permit and showed them his gun. He said he was inside and Moschella, his cousin, was in the car when three men wearing masks began shooting.
Ferguson said he returned fire at least five times but is not sure if he hit anyone. He did hit the car the men were in, reports said.
Ferguson’s gun was taken for evidence since it was involved in a shooting, reports said.
Police thought they saw two men matching the description of the shooters on Gibson Avenue near Mabel Avenue and chased them through a field of high grass, but they managed to get away, reports said.
