YOUNGSTOWN

Two people were shot at the ESA Park Apartments at 720 Kendis Circle on the East Side about 9:40 p.m. Thursday. Both were taken to hospital for treatment, but their conditions were not available late Thursday.

Police said one of the victims had been taken to the hospital in a minivan before officers arrived at the apartment complex. The second victim was still at the scene.

It was the second shooting in the city in two days, with a 23-year-old man being shot at the South Avenue Gas Mart, 2325 South Ave., at 10:38 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim was sitting in a car while his 32-year-old cousin went inside the store. When the cousin came out of the store, he saw two men inside the car with his cousin and another man standing outside of it wearing a ski mask and shooting a gun at his cousin.

The cousin returning from the store had a concealed-carry license and was carrying a handgun and fired it about five times at the suspects, who then ran off.

The name and condition of the victim were not provided by Youngstown police.
