SOV resident receives surprise dance

Neighbors | Submitted.Jeanette Bodnar (left) celebrated her love of dancing with her daughters, from left (back) Kathy and Janice and her grandaughter and great-grandaughter Deborah (front left) and Karli (front right) at Avon Oaks Ballroom.

Prior to moving to Shepherd of the Valley’s Boardman campus, Jeanette Bodnar and her husband belonged to the East Side Civic Center, where they would jitterbug the night away. Although her husband has passed and the Civic Center is no longer around, the rhythm still lives on in Bodner’s heart.

The Shepherd of the Valley - Boardman dream team recently took Bodner back to the place she loves so much - the dance floor. Her daughter, Janice Kutsko, and the SOV-Boardman staff treated Bodner, who turned 90 on April 15, to dinner where 12 of her relatives surprised her and a night of toe-tapping at Avon Oaks Ballroom in Girard.

“As soon as we entered the ballroom and she heard the music, she was dancing,” shared Kim Osborn, SOV-Boardman activities director. “She didn’t even get to her seat before she started. She loved it and we loved watching her. Even in her seat, her feet were moving and arms waving to the music.”
