POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
May 28
Criminal damaging: A metal-gate lock and a cellphone were damaged in the 8500 block of Raintree Drive.
May 30
Animal complaint: Police received a complaint regarding a dog that was continually barking in the 2900 block of Heatherbrae Drive.
BOARDMAN
May 30
Theft: Two women left Famous Hair, 371 Boardman-Canfield Road, and failed to pay for $197 worth of services.
May 31
Theft: A Youngstown girl, 15, and a township girl, 16, were charged with stealing $253 worth of clothing from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall.
Harassment: A Youngstown woman at a Sierra Madre Trail home discovered someone had placed personal information about her online without consent.
Criminal mischief: Someone in the 7700 block of Glenwood Avenue used green paint to write on a car.
Theft: Three men reportedly stole three eyeglass frames from Dr. Bloomberg’s Eye Clinic, 34 Boardman-Poland Road.
Arrest: A vehicle check in the 4000 block of South Avenue led to 20-year-old Jesse A. Durkin’s arrest. Durkin, of 2052 S. Raccoon Road, Austintown, was wanted on a charge of failure to appear in court.
Menacing: A resident at a South Avenue long-term care facility told police a family member of another patient has been harassing the accuser and following him around the facility.
Criminal damaging: A Youngstown man driving near Brookwood Road and Market Street reported an unknown object struck his vehicle. The damage estimate was $500.
Theft: A township man noticed his cellphone missing from a locker at a McClurg Road business.
Aggravated menacing: A man told officers an acquaintance threatened to harm him and damage his car during an argument at a Tiffany Boulevard restaurant.
Burglary: To a home in the 40 block of Indianola Road by unknown means. Stolen were an iPod device and an iPhone.
Theft: Police booked 22-year-old Katelyn A. Governale, 112 W. Warren Ave., Youngstown, after a bathing suit and assorted lotions were stolen from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.
Auto theft: Authorities picked up 24-year-old Nicholas J. Molina on a charge of receiving stolen property while conducting surveillance in the 90 block of Leighton Avenue and saying Molina, of 4085 Stark Drive, Austintown, was in a Ford Explorer determined to have been stolen in Youngstown.
Theft: Vickie L. Adkins, 57, of 520 Kenmore Ave., Youngstown, was charged in the theft of 11 DVDs from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
June 1
Drugs: Officers investigating a suspicious person in the 7200 block of Market Street charged Daniel J. Nicoara Jr. of 7420 Salinas Trail, Boardman, with one felony count of drug abuse after saying the 37-year-old Nicoara had a small quantity of suspected heroin in a cigarette pack.
Menacing: An Applecrest Court man said two men came to his door and asked for another person whom the accuser felt they wanted to harm.
Theft: Jennifer N. Zackasee, 30, was charged, accused of taking $75 worth of merchandise from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive. Zackasee, of 1741 Liberty Road, Youngstown, also was wanted on a probation-violation warrant.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 6600 block of South Avenue was found with light scratches to its rear passenger side.
Theft: Two men and a woman reportedly stole two cellphones and a cellphone case from AT&T, 7125 Tiffany Blvd., costing the store $1,368.
Aggravated menacing: An Old Oxford Lane woman told officers her former boyfriend threatened to kill her after apparently becoming upset that she was dating another person.
Domestic violence: A township boy, 15, was charged with the crime after his mother alleged the teen had twice pushed her during an argument.
Theft: Coren L. Day-Smith, 18, of 3901 Esther Lane, Hermitage, Pa., faced a charge when accused of stealing two items from Fanzz, an apparel store in the Southern Park Mall.
Arrest: Suspicious activity near Montrose and Afton avenues caught the attention of police, who took 19-year-old Jacob L.A. Lindsey, 274 Afton, Boardman, into custody upon learning he was wanted on a probation-violation charge.
Theft: Authorities issued a summons against 21-year-old Anthony D. Hardy after saying Hardy, of 544 E. Avondale Ave., Youngstown, stole two MP3 players from Walmart.
Robbery: Michelle L. O’Donahue, 39, of 7165 Locust Ave., Boardman, and Daniel J. Tulli, 44, of 4637 Yarmouth Lane, Boardman, faced robbery and felony-theft charges, respectively, after $1,099 worth of clothing was stolen from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road. Also, a loss-prevention official alleged a van had nearly struck him as O’Donahue and Tulli fled.
Theft: A man in the 4400 block of Lockwood Boulevard reported a riding mower stolen from his driveway.
Criminal damaging: An Applecrest Court woman discovered someone had placed a large hair weave in her vehicle’s exhaust pipe.
Theft: A man and a woman in their 30s took 10 articles of clothing from Walmart.
June 2
Endangerment: A traffic stop in the 7400 block of Market Street resulted in charges of child endangerment and operating a vehicle impaired against 28-year-old Krista A. Wheatley, 7544 Market, Boardman. Wheatley also had a 7-year-old girl in the car, a report said.
Theft: An employee with an East Western Reserve Road business noticed his wallet missing while at work.
Vandalism: A man who owns a piece of rental property in the 100 block of Shadyside Drive discovered former tenants had caused extensive damage to the home, including the kitchen.
Theft: Two bird feeders were taken from a yard in the 300 block of White House Lane.
Aggravated menacing: A Kiowa Drive man alleged his brother-in-law threatened to kill him while at an Arden Boulevard home.
Theft: A man reported his wallet stolen while at a Mathews Road launderette.
Breaking and entering: Roughly $1,400 worth of copper piping was taken from a residence in the 100 block of Newport Drive; someone had entered via a side door.
Attempted breaking and entering: Someone tried to pry open a door to a Youngstown-Poland Road counseling center, though it appeared nothing was disturbed or missing.
Theft: A woman reported her purse stolen from a car in the 100 block of Erskine Avenue.
Theft: A man in a Pittsburgh Steelers sweat shirt reportedly stole a $150 electronic device from AT&T, 650 Boardman-Canfield Road.
June 3
Theft: A $300 iPhone was removed from a vehicle in the 300 block of Erskine Avenue.
Theft: Jacqueline R. Nelson, 21, of 137 E. Avondale Ave., Youngstown, was charged, accused of stealing $126 worth of clothing from Kmart.
Assault: Ronald B. Snyder III of 50 Shields Road, Boardman, surrendered on a simple-assault charge after a 15-year-old boy riding his bicycle on Glenwood Avenue alleged the 38-year-old Snyder had gotten out of his vehicle, struck the accuser’s head and ran over his bicycle.
Theft/drugs: Authorities took into custody 36-year-old James B. Truman at his residence, 61 Terrace Drive, Boardman, on felony charges of theft and heroin possession. Truman dropped in nearby bushes a folded newspaper containing suspected heroin, and was accused of stealing an iPod device and an iPhone from an Indianola Road home, police said.
Theft: A woman noticed her wallet missing while at Southern Park Mall.
Theft: A man reported his wallet and $180 missing after he had withdrawn the money from a Market Street drug store’s automated-teller machine.
Criminal damaging: One vehicle in the 7400 block of Salinas Trail sustained scratches and another had its license-plate bracket damaged.
Theft: A surveillance camera caught two men in their early 20s stealing a mannequin from Dillard’s in Southern Park Mall.
Aggravated menacing: A motorist who had gotten into an argument with a female driver near Meridian Road reported that after pulling into the Shields Road fire station to call police, a man in a silver Chevrolet Malibu appeared and threatened him with a gun.
Theft: A man noticed someone had removed a $600 leaf blower from his truck bed in the 5800 block of Southern Boulevard.
