Changing the world with pet project

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Melissa Kmetz’s third-graders at Lakeview Elementary School, Warren, participated in a Change the World project she initiated. This year, they raised money for Animal Charity of Ohio, in Boardman, so the shelter could replace some of the small, inadequate cages the dogs must live in. From left, kneeling in front, are Caleb Rinck, Trent Lowery, Shayne Lavalliere, Tyler Fisher, Hannah Wallace and Samuel Vaughn; in the middle row are Olivia Allen, Kylie Matteotti, Jaclyn Swan, Aidan Popovich, Blaine Barr, Brian Thomas and Andrew Lynch; and in the back row are Cassidy Hluchan, Kmetz, Noah McGovern, Anna Kolonich, Jaylynn Pinto and Allison Redman. Students absent from the picture are Jayden Schrecengost, Kira, Katie Dean and Isaac Lezaic. The children and their parents canvassed neighborhoods and collected $1,492. The rest of the school joined in and raised $1,714.25.
