Another court battle simmers over Penn State’s NCAA sanctions
HARISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Litigation over the NCAA sanctions against Penn State will continue even though a federal judge has thrown out Gov. Tom Corbett’s anti-trust lawsuit.
State Sen. Jake Corman, who sponsored a law signed in February that requires $60 million NCAA fine to be spent exclusively in Pennsylvania, is pursuing a Commonwealth Court lawsuit against the association over the use of the money. Meanwhile, an NCAA challenge of the law is still pending in federal court.
Corman, a Republican whose district includes Penn State’s main campus in State College, said today that he does not anticipate any additional state action involving the sanctions.
