Sciortino pays fine

CANFIELD

Mahoning County Auditor Michael V. Sciortino has paid a $50 fine and $80 in court costs in connection with a ticket he received May 26 for failing to drive within marked lanes on U.S. Route 224 east of Raccoon Road, county area court records show.

Sheriff Jerry Greene said Sgt. James Touville, who made the traffic stop, and an unnamed member of the sheriff’s senior command staff are being investigated by an outside agency — the Summit County Sheriff’s Office — concerning their conduct in connection with the traffic stop.

Although he said he didn’t know if Sciortino was given a field-sobriety test, Greene said Touville should have administered that test if he had probable cause to believe Sciortino had been drinking.
