The Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center, 1044 Belmont Ave., will host a free health screening and mammogram from 4:30 to 7 p.m. next Wednesday for women age 40 to 64 who are uninsured or underinsured and meet financial eligibility. Screening will include a health- history assessment, blood-pressure screening, breast exam and mammogram. A limited number of appointments are available. Preregister by calling 330-480-2763. School staff training

Ohio Police Officers Training Association and the Ohio Attorney General’s Office will conduct an Active School Shooters Training Course from 8 a.m. to noon June 18 at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, 2121 Reno Drive NE, in Louisville. Sponsor is the Office of Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Youngstown. The goal is to empower school staff to intervene with students who could pose a danger and to promote communication with local law enforcement. The course will cover the Five Phases of the Active School Shooters as developed by Dan Marcou. Pride parade Saturday

The Youngstown Gay Pride Parade steps off at noon Saturday at Woodland Avenue, and will proceed to Market Street and Central Square. The theme is “Embracing Diversity.” Anyone is invited to march, including military personnel and local business representatives. Judge James C. Evans of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court has granted permission for Larry Dawson, 24, of Wesley Avenue, to attend church services for 21/2 hours Sundays. Dawson is charged in the death of his son, Rayvon, on Dec. 12. He signed a waiver of speedy trial Monday; his June 10 trial date is expected to be postponed.
