Compressed natural gas fueling station to be built Girard

Construction will begin before the end of the year on a full-service compressed natural gas fueling station in Girard, the first of its kind in the Mahoning Valley.

CNG, which often sells for far less than its gasoline counterpart, emits up to 30 percent less carbon dioxide and cuts other pollutants such as carbon monoxide by more than half.

The news, announced this morning by Dublin, Ohio-based IGS Energy CNG Services, comes as similar filling stations begin to proliferate across the state and country.

Though few details have been released, the station will be located at the Mr. Fuel truck stop and gas station at 2840 Salt Springs Road.
