Two injuted in crash in Warren Township
WARREN
Two men were injured in an accident on Highland Avenue just south of Sixth Street in Warren Township at about 7 p.m. Friday, the Warren post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
The patrol said a pickup truck driven by 58-year-old Charles Zell Sr. of Warren was southbound on Highland Avenue when it went off the right side of the road and hit a utility pole.
Zell and his son, 38-year-old Charles Zell Jr. of Warren, were both injured. A news release from the patrol said Charles Zell Jr. was at St. Joseph Health Center, but a nursing supervisor said he was not there Saturday evening. The release said the elder Zell was taken to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital, but the nursing supervisor there said she had no information on his condition.
The patrol said neither Zell nor his son were wearing seatbelts. The accident remains under investigation.
Kayak tour planned for next Sunday
Slippery Rock, Pa.
Jennings Environmental Education Center is hosting a kayak tour through Slippery Rock Creek from 1 to 4:30 p.m. next Sunday.
Calmer sections of the stream will be explored as kayakers hone their paddling skills. The event is intended for children 12 and older and adult participants who have some flat water kayaking experience. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Moving water skills will be discussed and practiced. All equipment will be provided, including kayaks. Participants may not bring their own kayaks. Participants should bring their own life jacket and other accessories.

Toddler hospitalized after crash in Pa.
WAYNE, Pa.
Pennsylvania State Police at New Castle say a 3-year-old boy was flown by helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh after an accident about 3:30 p.m. on Portersville Road. A news release states a car driving east on Portersville Road driven by 33-year-old Mark Robert Bacon of Ellwood City crossed into the opposite lane into the path of a car driven by 59-year-old Mary Anna Jenkins, also of Ellwood City.
The release said the boy was a passenger in Bacon’s car and was not properly restrained and that neither Bacon nor Jenkins was wearing a seat belt. Jenkins was treated for minor injuries at Ellwood City Hospital.
Summer programs planned in Howland
HOWLAND
Howland Township Summer Youth Sport & Recreation Program will have a pottery camp Monday to June 7.
Pottery Play will be at Trumbull Art Gallery, 196 E. Market St. in Warren. Registration fee is $20 for Howland residents, $30 for nonresidents.
It also will have a beginner swimming class and advanced swimming class from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. or 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Monday to June 13 and June 17 to June 27 at the Warren YMCA, 210 High Street NW. Bathing suit, towel, flip-flops and outfit for after swimming are required.
Registration is $20 for Howland residents, $30 for nonresidents.
