Eagle Award

Benjamin Boughner, son of Don and Pam Boughner of Canfield, has earned his Eagle Scout award and received it at a court-of-honor ceremony last month at Canfield United Methodist Church.

He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 25, chartered to the church. Scoutmaster is Kevin Prus Sr.

Boughner was a member of Cub Scout Pack 25, also chartered to the church, for five years. He was a recipient of the Arrow of Light Award, the Cub Scouts’ highest honor. He joined Boy Scout Troop 25 on March 21, 2007.

He serves as troop quartermaster, and has previously served as scribe, historian, assistant senior patrol leader, senior patrol leader, patrol leader and assistant patrol leader.

Boughner earned 26 merit badges and special Scout awards like the fifth-year Camp Seven Ranges Pipestone Award and the first-year Camp McKinley Heritage Award.

His Scout activities include a 50-mile canoe trip and the Gettysburg Historical Hike. He is an Ordeal member of Wapashuwi Lodge, Order of the Arrow, which is Scouting’s National Honor Society.

For his Eagle Scout service project, Boughner planned, organized and carried out the repair of the playground area behind Canfield Presbyterian Church. He designed and built two miniature picnic tables for the church with assistance from his troop and family.

Boughner is a junior at Canfield High School, where he is a member of the high school band. He attends St. Christine Catholic Church in Youngstown.
