Emily A. Abraham of Canfield was named an Outstanding Senior by the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Washington & Jefferson College, Wash., Pa. Andrew A. Kaback of Youngstown was named an Outstanding Senior by PICPA and University of Pittsburgh. Kayla A. Ohlin of New Middletown was named an Outstanding Senior by PICPA and Thiel College. The outstanding-senior award is given to one senior accounting major at each of the 80 participating Pennsylvania colleges and universities.

Lynn, a member of the Health Care Services Team; Scott T. Rice, CPA, a member of the Tax-Manufacturing Team; and Mark D. Schrader, CPA, a member of the Construction & Real Estate Services Team, have been promoted to manager level. Derek A. Flinner, a member of the firm’s IT Services Team, has been promoted to Systems Administrator level. Amanda M. Charney, a member of the Tax Team, has been promoted to supervisor level. John W. Neil Gallagher of Aurora has joined Vienna company Winner Aviation as its vice president of maintenance. In this newly created position, he will be responsible for the growth of the maintenance division by expanding Winner Aviation’s product line of aircraft maintenance services.

Matthew M. Ries has joined Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell. His practice at the law firm will focus on civil and employment litigation, general corporate law and commercial law. Ries joins HHM after working as a litigation attorney for more than four years in the Columbus and Cleveland areas. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the Farmer School of Business at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and a juris doctorate from the Capital University Law School in Columbus. Ries is a native of Warren.

Akron Children’s Hospital named Dr. John Crow chairman of the Department of Surgery. Dr. Crow, a pediatric surgeon in the Akron area for more than two decades, has served as associate director of Akron Children’s Regional Burn Center since 1992 and medical director of Trauma Services since 1999.
