Mill Creek MetroParks celebrates GO Day on Saturday

National Get Outdoors Day, or GO Day, is a new annual event to encourage healthy, active, outdoor fun at sites across the nation.

Mill Creek MetroParks will participate in GO Day on Saturday. The park district will offer discounts on recreation activities at Wick Recreation Area, 1861 McCollum Road, and at both Lake Glacier and Lake Newport boathouses from noon to 6 p.m.

Participants can visit the welcome tent at Wick Recreation Area, Lake Glacier or Lake Newport boathouses to pick up coupons the day of the event.

Discounts include one free hour pedal-boat rental, half off one-hour kayak rental, free batting-cage tokens, and nine holes for $1 at the Par 3 golf course.

The coupon includes entry instructions for the Mill Creek MetroParks Recreation Sweepstakes — a three-month pass good for four recreation activities per month.

GO Day is an outgrowth of the Get Outdoors USA! campaign, which encourages Americans, especially youth, to seek out healthy, active outdoor lives and embrace our parks, forests, refuges and other public lands and waters.
